MSG (Ret) Robert R. Horne, Jr., age 72, resident of Fortson, Georgia, died on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at his residence. Graveside services with full military honors are scheduled at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama on Friday, September 11, 2015, 2 p.m.
MSG Horne, son of Winona Davis Horne and the late Robert Roland Horne, was born December 22, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served his country honorably for over 22 years. MSG Horne received numerous awards and medals for his exemplary military service including the Air Medal (w/Silver Service Star); Bronze Star (w/2 BOLC); Meritorious Service Medal (w/1OLC); Purple Heart (1BOLC); Vietnam Service Medal (2/Silver Service Star); and Combat Infantry Badge.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Yvonne Horne of Fortson, Georgia; one daughter, Darlene Goben and her husband James of Bonner Springs, Kansas; two sons, Eric Horne and his wife Aimee of Kansas City, Kansas and Wayne Horne and his wife Shanda of Fortson, Georgia; his mother, Winona D. Horne of Woodstock, Georgia; six grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
