Arrangements under the direction of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.Robert Earl Harvey, Sr. 94, of Columbus, GA, passed away March 8, 2016, under the gentle care of Columbus Hospice House. Mr. Harvey was born October 12, 1921 in West Point, GA to his late parents Louise and Walter Harvey. He was a veteran of WWII, and a renowned Certified Orthodist who crafted many prosthetic limbs, braces, and corrective shoes for people in the Columbus area. Mr. Harvey was a Certified Ham Operator known as WA4TKL.
The family will welcome guests for a visitation Wednesday, March 9, 2016 5:00-7:00 pm in The St Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA. A Graveside Celebration of Mr. Harvey’s Life will be Thursday, March 10, 2016 11:00 am at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Tommie Hart will be officiating.
Along with his parents, Mr. Harvey is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Sara Phillips Harvey, and grandson Robert Earl Harvey, III. He is survived by two sons, Robert Earl Harvey, Jr. of Columbus, and Billy Harvey of Columbus; one grandchild, Brandi Wilmer of Columbus; one grandchild in-law, Amy Harvey of Catalula, GA; four great grandchildren, Peyton Harvey Bryant (Jason Nickerson), Haley Savannah Harvey, Sara Cheyenne Harvey, and Robert Ryan Wilmer; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
