Destin, FL - Robert “Bob” Harold Giglio, 80, of Destin, FL, died at Sacred Heart Hospital, Thursday, December 6, 2018 peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, GA, on December 12, 2018 beginning at 3 p.m. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until time of service on December 12 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.
Pallbearers will be Allen Giglio, Jim Giglio, Shane Cannon, Kevin White, Tyler White and Steve Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Morgan Giglio, Jesse Cannon, Christopher Cannon, Ronnie Cannon III, and Daniel Cannon.
Bob was born November 22, 1938, in Columbus, GA, to the late Roy H. and Catherine B. Giglio.
He was preceeded in death by his twin brother William Roy Giglio of Prattville, AL, brother-in-law William Y. Lamar of Montgomery, AL, and son by marriage Ronnie Cannon, Jr. of Columbus, GA.
He is survived by his wife Jean L. Giglio of Destin, FL, sisters Catherine G. Lamar of Montgomery, AL, and Debbie G. Garrett (J. Hudson) of Columbus, GA, and mother of his children Harriett Hood Giglio, of Brandon,MS, sons Robert Allen Giglio (Anita) of Tupelo, MS, James Michael Giglio of Florence, MS, and daughter Amy G. White (Kevin) of Brandon, MS, son by marriage Shane L. Cannon (Robin) of Destin, FL, and daughter-in-law by marriage Kim Cannon of Destin, FL, grandchildren Tyler White, Annamarie White, Grace Giglio, Morgan Giglio, Lindsay Cannon, Jesse Cannon, Christopher Cannon, Brooke Cannon, Ronnie Cannon III, Riley Cannon, and Daniel Cannon, great grandchildren Kay, Maylin, Landon, Eli, Koda, and Reese. He also has many nieces and nephews.
Bob graduated from Columbus High School in 1957 and then joined the United States Marine Corp. Lance Corporal Robert Giglio served proudly and enjoyed his time as a football player in the Marines.
Bob worked for Columbus Iron Works and Hayes Brass upon leaving the Corp. He became the CEO of Giglio, Riddle & Associates in 1975. As a result of his lifelong dedication to the water works profession, Bob received the prestigious “George Warren Fuller Award” given by the American Water Works Association. This award commemorates sound engineering skill, brilliant diplomatic talent, and constructive leadership skills.
In recent years Bob took pride as a partner in Destin real estate ventures, especially overseeing the Osprey Landing development in Destin, FL.
