Peggy Celeste Blank

Peggy Celeste Blank, age 78, resident of Columbus, died on Friday, July 27, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Sunday, July 29, 2012, 4 p.m. with Reverend Roy White. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 3-4 p.m. Private entombment is scheduled at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Blank, daughter of the late Preston and Ista Walters, was born January 2, 1934 in Alexander City, AL. She lived in Columbus most ofl her adult life, graduated from Auburn University, and became a 1st grade teacher at Fort Benning. There she met and married Lyle E. Blank of Richland, OR. She went on to enjoy 50 happy years with Major Blank until his death in October 2010. They lived many years in Sears Woods and were active members at Edgewood United Methodist Church as well as the Columbus Exchange Club. They traveled the world living in Kaiserslautern and Heidelberg, Germany. Survivors include one daughter, Stacey Meadows and her husband Daniel of Seale, AL; one son, Ken Blank and his partner Roger Strait of Asheville, NC; her grandchildren, J.W. Baker, Katherine and Rodney Beard, Brandon Baker and Kristina Baker; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Fox and Krysta Posey of Seale, AL; other relatives and friends.
