Patsy Chalkley House, age 80, of Columbus, GA, formerly of Abbeville, AL, passed away on October 10, 2019. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday October 15, 2019 at Parkhill Cemetery at 11:00 am; the family will have a visitation for family and friends from 9:45 til 10:45 at Striffler-Hamby prior to services.
Patsy was born in Columbus, GA, on August 4, 1939; the daughter of William Edgar Chalkley and Doris Eugenia Spence Chalkley. She attended schools in the Columbus/Phenix City area and graduated from Jordan Night School; she was always competitive and during this time she was a member of a bowling team and played volleyball. Patsy was a big sports fan, she knew about sports, not just a casual observer, hands down her favorite team was The Atlanta Braves. She found great joy in living in the country, having a garden, and attending church. What she loved was her family and the time she spent with them, especially big family gatherings and getting together around the holidays.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; and a brother, Gordon Chalkley.
Survivors include: her children, Teresa (Kenneth) Bush, Doris Calhoun, Jeffrey Dean (Petra) Simons; six grandchildren, Shylia Beyers, Ashley Bush, Zachary (Katie) Bush, Nazareth (Janet) Grantham, Jason (Kristy) Haught, Whitney Jones; three great grandchildren, Eleanor Bush, Alexander Grantham, Jacob Grantham and many other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
