Myrtle H. Smith

Myrtle H. Smith, 92, of Midland, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 in the Edgewood Hall Chapel of Striffler-Hamby at 1:00PM with visitation from 12:00PM until 1:00PM with Rev. Dave Giles officiating.

Born on June 22, 1930 in Geneva County, AL, to the late Emmett and Eula Hall. Mrs. Smith was a retired office manager for Liberty National Life Insurance Company in Columbus. She also worked for Bankers Life and Casualty Company in El Paso, TX and Topeka, KS. Myrtle was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ellerslie, GA. She was active in Women’s Insurance Association and National Secretaries Association.

Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 42 years, James H. Smith and her younger brother, Gerald H. Hall.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Linda Barnes (Stacy) of Midland, GA; grandsons, Paul Clayton Barnes (Sydnee) of Midland, GA and Daniel Adam Barnes (Jessica) of Valdosta, GA; five great grandchildren, Charlee Kimber Barnes, Smith James Barnes, Caroline Grace Barnes, Brooks Anderson Barnes and Hayden Camp Rickard; sister, Doris East of Columbus, GA; brother, Rev. Jerry Hall (Jane) of Lima, OH; several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are accepted, however the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Salvation Army.
