Muriel Booth Lunsford, 84, of Columbus, GA died Friday, January 4, 2013 in St. Francis Hospital.Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in First Baptist Church, Porter Chapel with Dr. James C. Elder, Jr. officiating according to Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallearers will be Mack Gouge, Rick Snell, Dennis Owens, Jonathan Skaggs, Sr., Beau Skaggs, and Brian Lunsford.Mrs. Lunsford was born January 7, 1928 in Columbus, GA the daughter of the late Willie Dawson Booth and the late Geraldine Jones Booth. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus and was a charter member of Wynnton Baptist Church (Wynnbrook Baptist Church).
Mrs. Lunsford was a small business owner of a Columbus neighborhood restaurant, The Little Sportsman, and enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald Leamon Lunsford; a sister, Mary Nell Booth Carter; two brothers, Montie Sterling Booth and Gerald Cecil Booth.Survivors include a son, Randall Keith Lunsford and his wife, Shirley Oss Lunsford of Columbus; a daughter, Rita Lunsford Skaggs and her husband, Louis Edmon Skaggs of Eatonton, GA; four grandchildren, Brian Leamon Lunsford and his wife, Stephanie Kelly Lunsford of Columbus, Jonathan Edmon Skaggs and his wife, Carmen Trammell Skaggs of Columbus, Heather Skaggs Scott and her husband, Andy Carlton Scott of Newnan, GA, and Beau Benjamin Skaggs of Alpharetta, GA; and six great-grandchildren.
