Funeral Services will be held 3:00pm Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Striffler Hamby Mortuary Macon Road Chapel with private burial to follow at the Mason's Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery on Monday, January 24th, 2022. Dr. Kevin Calhoun will preside over the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1pm - 2:50pm on Sunday.
Mavis was born and raised in Grenada, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Johnny Roscoe Murphy & Nonnie Mae Murphy. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbus, Ga.
She graduated from CVCC with an Associate of Arts in 1981. She worked at JC Penny, Katz, and handled many functions for celebrities as an Officer's wife. Later in her life, she acquired both a Real Estate Sales and Broker license, and was a former partner for Scott & Whitten Realty.
During her life in Columbus, she was an active member in the Eastern Star, and a former Governor of Lady's Sertoma.
She was loved and admired by everyone that knew her for her loving and generous ways and she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Mavis Scott was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Col William (Bill) L Scott, stepson Steve Scott, brother James Murphy, brother, Kenneth (Margie) Murphy (2 children), sister, Olle (John) Hitt (3 children), sister, and Ann (Tony) Powers (4 children).
Survivors include a sister Kati (Jessie) Vela (5 children), 2 sons Ron Scott (Sharon), Don Scott, 1 stepson Bobby Scott, 1 stepdaughter Linda Scott, 1 grandson Chris Scott (Tonya), 1 step grandson Brandon Beach (Jessica), 1 great granddaughter Hannah Scott, 1 great grandson, Chase Scott, 4 great step grandsons, Conner Hovery, Nathan Beach, Braydon Beach, Clinton Beach.

Mavis will be laid to rest in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907-2211.
