Matt was the first born to Kenneth Alexander Powell and Judy Terry Powell of Columbus, Georgia.
He was an exceptionally bright child who had many accolades and achievements over his time in Muscogee County Schools. He went on to graduate with a degree in Discrete Mathematics from Georgia Tech. After college, Matt’s love of math and analytics translated into his career with the Segal Company as a fully certified actuary.
He was a generous, caring son, brother, and cousin but most importantly he was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Matt is survived by his wife; Emily Slade Powell, and daughters; Sylvia Louise, Matilda Ann, Abigail Gwen and anticipating a new baby girl this summer.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 with Rev. Jimmy Elder to officiate. Family will meet with friends one hour prior at 12:00 PM at the gravesite.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a college fund for Matt’s children to Emily Powell at 2018 Cockrell Pointe, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152.
