A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Waddell will be held 2:00PM Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA, with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating. The family will receive friends immediate following the service in the Mill Room at the funeral home. A private interment will be at Parkhill Cemetery.
Mrs. Waddell was born November 21, 1928 in Downsville, WI, daughter of the late Herman Tayfield and Margaret Matilda Turner Seiler. She was a former member of the Windsor Park Garden Club where she enjoyed spending time with friends. Mrs. Waddell was a Member of the First Baptist Church of Columbus, and the Women’s Christian Fellowship. Most of all, she was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Waddell supported her husband, Byron, 110 percent in their two businesses. She was also a loving mother who made sure that her children were taken care of and learned right from wrong. She cherished being a grandmother, and loved creating special memories with each of her grandchildren. May her sweet spirit live forever in our hearts.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Waddell was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Andrew Waddell, a grandson, Samuel “Sam” Mixon Waddell, three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her son, Bradley Allen Waddell, Sr., (Angie) of Columbus, GA; step-daughter, Elandra Milburn of Columbus, GA; step-son, Andy Waddell (Marty) of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren, David Milburn (Renita), Mark Milburn (Jennifer), Jennifer Hamrick, Bradley Allen Waddell, Jr, (Sue Marie) of Ponte Vedra Beach FL, Katherine Elizabeth Shayne of Athens, GA, Robert William Shayne of Columbus, GA, and Emily Georgia Waddell of Columbus; 11 great grandchildren; two special friends, Dr. Jimmy Elder and Dr. Ron Hudson; close family friends, Polly and Jim Davis, and their daughter Ann Waller, and her husband, Pete.
