Margaret Monk Drew, age 87, of Columbus, Georgia passed away December 30, 2020. A visitation of family and friends will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia.
Margaret was born March 3, 1933, in Ozark, Alabama; the daughter of Shelby Lee Monk and Rosa Lee Philips Monk.
Margaret was a graduate of Jordan High school in Columbus, GA. She worked for Columbus Plumbing and Mill Supply before retiring from Hughes and Bradley. Mrs. Drew was a dedicated military spouse and a faithful member of Gentian Baptist Church. Mrs. Drew will be remembered as a pleasant woman who enjoyed spending time at home but also liked to travel to see family and friends. She loved to read various types of literature, she especially loved reading her Bible. She always enjoyed a good laugh, two of her favorite comedy shows were I Love Lucy & The Carol Burnett Show. Mrs. Drew loved her family very much and always put them first. She was empathetic, she had respect for others and tried to always be loving and kind. She lived in such a way that she was mindful of the unknown trials, struggles and life situations of others, choosing to Love instead of judging. Margaret was a wonderful Mother that leaves behind lasting memories that make her love irreplaceable.
Margaret is preceded in death by: her husband, Leon I. Drew; three brothers, Hayward Monk, Earl Monk and Taft Monk; mother, Rosa Lee Bringle and stepfather, William Bringle.
She leaves behind her son, Gary Drew; two daughters, Faye Drew and Wilma Chapman; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and many other relatives and friends to cherish her loving memory.
