With heavy hearts and fond memories, we celebrate the incredible life of Laura “RaRa” Gilbert, who left us at the age of 38.
Laura is survived by her mother, Vicki Gilbert of Columbus, and her siblings, Katie Gilbert (JoJo Harris) of Lanett, AL, Holly Douglas (Brandon Hollis) of Nashville, TN, and Patt Gilbert (Joni) of Columbus, GA. She is also survived by her boys, Jayden and Dravin Barnes of Iron City, GA. Additionally, Laura leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins: Leita and Gary Prewitt, Donna and Bob Pentecost, Dennis Howard, Steve Howard, Sophia Douglas, Paisley Harris, Rachel Carroll (Jonathan), Katherine Carroll, Sarah Wilgenbusch (Thomas), Riley Gilbert (Marcus Miller), Donovon Harris, Joey Harris, Easton Gilbert (Ashley) and their children Korbin and Karter, as well as Lyndsey Massengale (Hughes), Kaysen Gilbert and Joey, Cristy and Grace Hiller.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Gilbert, her sister, Jennifer Wilson, and her nephew, Wilson Gilbert, as well as her grandparents, Herman and Edna Gilbert, and Louis and Henrietta Howard.
Known for her infectious energy and boundless sense of humor, she was a shining light in the lives of her family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to know her.
Laura was unapologetically herself—loud, fun, and full of passion. She was the life of every party, armed with a sarcastic wit and an infectious laugh that could fill any room with joy. Whether she was cracking jokes, pulling pranks, or making TikToks that had everyone in stitches, she had an innate ability to make the mundane hilarious. She never missed a chance to brighten someone’s day, and in doing so, made the world a little brighter for all of us.
Her love ran deep—first and foremost for her Momma, all of her family, and her cherished friends. She was also a fierce animal lover, with her beloved Watson always by her side. A proud supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs and a passionate softball player, she brought her full spirit to everything she did, whether on the field, in the stands, or in everyday life.
Laura embraced life’s simple pleasures—Baja Blast, ranch dressing, fishing, and neon colors were just a few of her quirky loves that matched her fun and vibrant personality. But beneath all the silliness and laughter was a steadfast, loyal friend, a confidant, and the ultimate cheerleader for her loved ones. She never hesitated to lift others up, offering unwavering support and encouragement.
She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and joy—a reminder to all of us to live life fully and find humor in every corner. Though she is no longer with us, the memories of her contagious laugh, her larger-than-life personality, and her genuine heart will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Rest in peace, RaRa. You will be missed deeply, but your spirit will keep us smiling through the tears.
