LaDonna Jean Vance Breese of Columbus, GA passed peacefully on May 31, 2024. LaDonna was born on January 10, 1930 to the late Lucille Billings and Glenn Vance in Ottumwa, Iowa. LaDonna attended Prescott United Methodist Church. She grew up in the Great Depression and learned to sew and make clothes young. She was very crafty and loved to make all sorts of things. She graduated with the class of 1947 from Albia High school and did various jobs such as a waitress in Albia, Iowa and when she was younger, a Cotton Classer in El Paso, TX, and a supervisor at American Express when they lived in Phoenix, Arizona. Despite the various jobs, LaDonna mainly dedicated her life to being the best wife and mother she could possibly be, which she succeeded in after marrying the love of her life, Monroe “Zeke” Joseph Breese on June 19, 1948 who she remained the loving and devoted wife to for 73 years until his passing on November 11, 2021.
She loved her family most of all and moved to Columbus, GA with Zeke in late 2020 to be near her daughter. LaDonna loved her grandkids and never missed sending a birthday card, Christmas card, or picking up the phone to give good wishes to someone. She could make friends with anyone and had many social circles of friends. She always treated everyone with so much respect and kindness which made everyone around her love her. She was always positive and never dwelled on the low points in life. She was very active in the Prescott Noon Lioness Club where she held key roles such as President. She won a prestigious national award from the Lioness Club for her contributions. LaDonna also loved to travel, taking trips from small-town Albia, Iowa to traveling and living all over the world, including Japan, Munich Germany, and various places all over the United States. She really enjoyed Italy. LaDonna loved to paint and the entire family was always looking for new place to hang her paintings in their homes. She was an avid reader and really enjoyed thrillers and spy novels and was always busy learning new things! She even took computer classes to learn more about computers and painting. She loved to reminisce about the past and laugh and talk about things that happened. She never wanted to sit idle and was always finding something to do and keep her mind and body going!
