He was born on June 6, 1945 in Waycross, GA to the late James R. Bladen and Juanita H. Bladen. Mr. Bladen graduated from Ware County High School in 1963 and went on to the University Of Georgia Pharmacy School graduating in 1968. After his pharmacy internship, in 1969 he was commissioned into the United States Army Medical Corps at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. He proudly served as the head of Brooke General Hospital Pharmacy, Brooke General Hospital was a teaching hospital. He lectured the Medical Service Corps and other hospital staff along the Southeastern coast of the United States about the introduction of an IV Additive program.
Following his military service, he bought an established drug store, in 1972, Jacobs Pharmacy, in the Wynnton Shopping Center. Later the name of the store was changed to Bladen Pharmacy, he was dedicated to his customers. He retired in 1997. Mr. Bladen was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Other than his parents Mr. Bladen is also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Terrelll Bladen, Sr. of Waycross, GA.
Mr. Bladen leaves his legacy to his loving wife, “Peggy” Margaret Rusk Bladen; daughter, Kelly Balden McKinstry; son-in-law, Christopher Scott McKinstry; grandchildren: Bladen Ross McKinstry, Wesley Garrard McKinstry, and Sarah Katherine McKinstry; nephews: Robert Terrell Bladen, Jr. (Hacie) of Kingsland, GA, Jason Everett Bladen of Huntsville, AL, and Jonathon Ross Bladen of Waycross, GA.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Columbus, GA.
