Kathleen Ann Summerford

Kathleen graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Bessie Tift College and went on to obtain her master’s degree from Georgia State University. She retired from Columbus High School after 40 years of teaching.

She enjoyed her travels with destinations including China, Russia, England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, etc. Kathleen was a member of the Hilton Terrace Baptist Church where she was a part of choir and the women’s fellowship as well as serving the Lord. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, book clubs, Delta Kappa Gamma, and bible studies. She volunteered at tea parties and was a clown for children’s events. Kathleen was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt and was known by her niece and nephew as “Sissy”. She will be missed dearly.

Kathleen is preceded in death by Francis Mackegen, Leslie and Marjorie Summerford. Survivors include Jo Summerford Banks, Nealie Jo Banks, and Leslie Ford Banks.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Hilton Terrace Church, 2236 Warm Springs Road, Columbus, Georgia 31904.
