Joseph was born in Columbus, Georgia on June 9, 1971 to Howard Hughes and the late Donna Hughes. He graduated from Shaw High School in 1989 where he lettered as a vital member of the Varsity Rifle Team.
He served as a Senior Airman with the United States Air Force where he was a Satellite and Wideband Communications Equipment Journeyman. He served during Operation Desert Storm and received various achievement medals and honors.
After discharge, Joseph began his career with TSYS where he worked for nearly 30 years. Some of his best days were spent gaming or preparing for a game with his wife. His gaming groups became family. Joseph was a proud and self-proclaimed Geek.
Joseph’s best friend and soulmate was his wife, Angela. When they met in October of 1988 he knew that Angela was the one he was going to marry. Life took many different turns, but they were happily married on October 13, 2007. These two best friends did everything together, whether it was movies, gaming, traveling, or simply relaxing.
He was a member of St. Mark Church of Columbus, Georgia and a proud member of the Choir, Men’s Group, and B.L.A.S.T. Sunday School Class. One of his last happiest moments was getting to serve with the youth group as a chaperone for their summer retreat. He came home with stories of how each person on that trip made such a strong impact on his life.
