Janis Herring Eberhardt, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on the evening of April 2, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus, Georgia.
Born in West Point, Georgia to the late R. Clyde and Sarah Allen Herring, she was the oldest of two daughters. She channeled her love of reading and writing into a successful career teaching English at Hardaway High School, Columbus Technical College, Troy State University, and many other institutions through remote learning. She was a life-long learner who often said she learned as much from her students as she taught them.
