James C. Ricks

Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler- Hamby, 7041 Macon RD. Columbus, GA. A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, December 16, 2013 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler – Hamby followed by a Committal service at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon RD, Columbus GA, with Rev. Mark Sasser officiating.

Along with his parents Mr. Ricks was preceded by his Wife of 54 years, Nopile, and Brother, Frank Ricks. He is survived by his son Terry and his wife Debby Pippins of Albany GA; one Brother, Vaughn Ricks of Columbus, GA; three Sisters; Julia and husband Joe Johnson of Columbus, Jewell Whitfield of Panama City, FL, and Verattor Burton of Phenix City, AL; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

James grew up in Bibb City and was drafted during the Korean Conflict where he served as a Corporal in the Army, earning a Silver Star medal. Following Korea he worked for Southern Rail Road until his retirement. He loved all outdoor sports, especially hunting and fishing. He was dedicated to his family and in return was loved by all. He will be greatly missed but we know he is enjoying his family reunion.
