(SFC RET) James (Jimbo) Walter Howse, age 65, of Greenville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021. A visitation for family and friends of James will be held Monday, January 25, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907 . A burial with military honors will occur Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 12:30 PM at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Alabama Hwy 165, Seale, AL.
James was born May 4, 1955 in Hialeah, Florida to Mildred Cecil Phillips Howse and James Selby Howse. James was a career soldier. He served his country proudly in the US Army for 20 years. While in the Army, he completed his Associates Degree in Computer Science. After retiring, James held positions at TSYS, AFLAC and FMX. He was also an outdoorsman. James loved to fish, hunt, travel and plant gardens. He taught his family to be accepting, forgiving, kind to others and non-judgmental. People will remember James because of the way he loved his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
James’s father, James Selby Howse; mother, Mildred Cecil Phillips Howse; step-father, Joseph Paul Hughes; sisters, Betty Brayden, Diane Tankersley and Donna Sonnenberg; and brother, Joseph Huges "Junior" preceded James in death.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Basey Howse; daughter, Sandra Truett (Felix Erwin Truett Jr); son, Donald J Howse (Amanda Williamson Howse); step daughter, Anna Basey; step-mother, Thelma Howse; grandsons, James M Howse, Cannon B Howse, Cade J Howse and numerous step-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Hughes; sisters, Dorothy Zirger, Barbara Chronister, Kaye Lynn Malicoat, Mary Lou Hayma and Debra Tankersley; grandsons, James M Howse, Cannon B Howse, Cade J. Howse.
