Jimmy was born in Shelby County, Alabama on December 23, 1932 to the late Stella and Rufus Henderson. He was a graduate of Cedartown High School class of 1950. After high school Jimmy faithfully served his country in the United States Navy. He married the love of his life on March 31, 1956 and together they raised three children. Jimmy and Peggy’s love for each other was an example to all. Jimmy was Christian by faith, he and Peggy attended North Highland Assembly of God in Columbus, Georgia.
After his service for his country in the Navy Jimmy was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1988. He was a good man who loved God, his family and Alabama football. He will be remembered for how he would help anyone at a moment’s notice. In his earlier days he was a member of the Broken Spokes Motorcycle club. They sponsored and rode numerous enduro races around Georgia and Alabama. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman. Just say “do you want to go fishing” and he already had the truck loaded up and ready! We remember all the winter seasons having opportunity to enjoy fresh deer BBQ. Then there were the days of camping also. He blessed all of the family by teaching us to respect and consider the beauty of God’s creation. His love for his family taught us to serve others with a grateful attitude.
Jimmy leaves his legacy to be cherished by his Wife: Peggy Ruth Zuback Henderson of Box Springs, GA; his Children: Vicki Henderson Rowe (Larry) of Tarpon Springs, FL, Karen Henderson Tucker (Lonnie) of Seguin TX and James M. Henderson (Laura) of Waverly Hall, GA; his Grandchildren: Heather Osborn (Stephen), Brandon McCain, Carrie Rowe, Alexandra Simpkins (Travis), Casey Rowe (Amanda), Brandt Tucker (Brittny), Ross Tucker (Jen), Brittany Tucker, Aaron Henderson and Thomas Henderson; his Great Grandchildren: Connor McCardle (Amelia), Destiny Osborn, Champ Rowe, Brock Osborn, Keegan Osborn, Benjamin Simpkins, Nolan Simpkins, Evy Tucker, Hilson Tucker, Hannah Tucker and Elwood Tucker; and numerous other family members.
