Mr. Jack Littleton Mahon, age 84, passed away on May 7, 2012. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 1:30 PM with Father Gerard Schreck officiating. A Rosary will be said at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA on Monday evening, May 14, 2012 at 7:00 PM, with visitation starting at 6:00 PM.
Mr. Mahon was born on November 20, 1927 in Apalachicola, FL to the late Charles Robert and Mary Louise Mahon. He was a retired educator of over 30 years, where he had worked as a teacher, mentor and finally principal of multiple schools in the Ft. Benning School System. Mr. Mahon’s passion as an educator was ensuring the welfare of all of his students. He considered everyone in his schools a member of his family. Mr. Mahon was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church as well as a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Peggy Mahon of Columbus; four children and their spouses, Deborah and Bob Patrick of Marietta, GA, John and Caroline Mahon of Stafford, VA, Alex and Justine Mahon of Tallahassee, FL, and Catherine and Brad Morrow of Valrico, FL; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Verner Mahon Roberts of Mary Esther, FL and several nieces and nephews.
