Henry was born in Etajima, Honshu, Japan, March 26, 1954; the son of Theodore and Rowena Cherry. He lived all over the United States until his father was stationed at Fort Benning which is what brought them to Columbus. He graduated from Hardaway High School in 1972. On May 6, 2000, Henry married Susan Sasser, in Miami before they set sail on a cruise to the Western Caribbean. They were together for over 30 years. He began his career in the automobile industry, beginning in sales and then in finance. Henry transitioned to the Restaurant Equipment Business, where he spent 35 years until his retirement. Henry was a thoughtful and sincere guy; his gestures of kindness were always intentional, he paid attention to detail and focused on what was important. He was a true friend, he was spontaneous, and adventurous. Through the way he lived his life, others learned many things including, that it is the little things that really do matter, to slow down and enjoy life, and do not miss an opportunity to be a blessing to someone else. Henry was a member of Cascade Hills Church and was baptized September 3, 2019. Like many of us, he was blessed with a beautiful family and many wonderful friends. He enjoyed getting together, sharing old stories, staying active, going for walks in the park, going on bike rides, playing golf, going to concerts, traveling, classic rock music, and sunsets. Henry also enjoyed time spent at the lake, the ocean, enjoying good food and more importantly, good desserts. The sweeter things in life were only made sweeter when he was with his family and friends whom he loved and cherished, especially his grandchildren.
Henry is preceded in death by: his wife, Susan (Sasser) Cherry; his father Theodore Cherry; his mother, Rowena (Meeks) Cherry; his brother, Arnold Cherry; his sister, Jessica (Greg) Upperman; and his niece and nephew, Donna and Lewis.
