Ethel H. Rogers

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of The Pine Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. Dr. Kevin Calhoun and Reverend John Burnette will be officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Philosophy-Andrew Sunday School Class of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rogers was born March 22, 1930 in Notasulga, AL, daughter of the late Edd Lee and Sarah Elizabeth Hayes Hancock. She graduated from Reeltown High School in 1948 and was the class Salutatorian. Mrs. Rogers was also a member of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Rogers was very devoted to her family. She had several jobs early in her life, but her favorite was making a loving and caring home for her family. Her family and friends will remember her as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Rogers loved the lord all of her life, and lived her life by example.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Amos Burel Rogers of Columbus, GA; her three children, Janet Rogers Gay and her husband, Joe of Columbus, GA, Stephen Amos Rogers and his wife, Fonda of Midland, GA, and Perry Burel Rogers and his wife, Juanita of Vienna, GA; her two granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Gay and Erin Rogers Tirado and her husband, Ramon; her grand-dog, Otis; numerous nieces, nephew, and friends.
