Graveside services will be held at Harmony Cemetery in Richland, Georgia on Thursday, June 13, 2013, 3 p.m., with Chaplain Morris Lewark and Reverend Robert Orr officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Singer was born December 23, 1921 in Richland, Georgia to the late Robert L. and Bessie S. Joines of Richland, Georgia. She was the first Kindergarten teacher at Greenfield Academy, Weston, Georgia for many years. She taught Beginners Sunday School at Richland Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for many years. She enjoyed life to the fullest and never met a stranger. Anyone who met Miss Elizabeth loved her instantly. In later years, she enjoyed her great-grandchildren coming to see her on a regular basis.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Joseph Thomas McCorkle of Richland, Georgia and her second husband J.D. Singer of Lumpkin, Georgia; her sisters, Martha Joines and Helen Joines Taylor; and a brother, Dr. Iverson Wesley Joines of Tucker, Georgia.
Survivors include her only daughter, Betty Jo Faulkner and son-in-law Dean of Waverly Hall, Georgia; grandson, Joseph Thomas Mickle and wife Tina of Ellerslie, Georgia; granddaughter, Jarrell Elizabeth Mickle King and husband Jeremy of Ellerslie, Georgia; her precious great-grandchildren, Morgan Michelle Mickle and Alexis Marie Mickle of Shiloh, Georgia; Kameron Warren King, Hudson Stuart King, and Jaxson Thomas Mickle of Ellerslie, Georgia; her sister, Bobbye Joines Kennedy of Shellman, Georgia; brother-in-law, Talifero Taylor of Richland, Georgia; sister-in-law, Mary Motes Joines of Tucker, Georgia; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express love and thanks to Gentiva Hospice, but especially to Sharron Minor, Chaplain Morris Lewark, nurse Linda Ailstock, Kathy Johnson, and nurse Wallace McCormick, deceased.
Her caregivers throughout the years Miss Elizabeth was ill, especially Mozelle Barbee, Frazer Loomis of Synovus for all your love and help you have been to our entire family for many years.
