Elizabeth Jones "Betty" Culpepper

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday June 20, 204 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 with Reverend Dick Reese officiating.

Mrs. Betty was born on Valentine’s Day in 1935 to the late Martha Thornton Jones and Rufus Jones, Jr. She attended Henry Grady High School in Atlanta, Georgia graduating in May of 1953. She married the love of her life Ralph “Gene” Culpepper in June of 1957 and together they made Columbus, Georgia home. She was Christian by faith and attended St. Luke United Methodist Church with her family. Mrs. Betty enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. Her biggest passion in later years was traveling to the casinos with family and a scratch off lottery ticket on occasion.

She is survived by her son, Steven F. Culpepper and other family members. Mrs. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. “Gene” Culpepper; her son, Edward Eugene Culpepper; her parents, Martha and Rufus Jones; and her brother, Rufus Jones, III.
