Elizabeth Brooks

Elizabeth Brooks, 76, of Columbus, GA passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM November 25, 2015 in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Dennis Lacy and Reverend Chris Rentz officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby.

Mrs. Brooks, daughter of the late Ause and Nettie Bullock, was born July 20, 1939 in Neshoba County, MS. She worked for the Muscogee County School System and retired after 40 years. Mrs. Brooks held various positions with the school system including Secretary at Bibb Elementary. She was a member of North Highland Assembly of God for 28 years where she was involved with Children’s Church Ministries, the choir, enjoyed Wednesday morning senior’s prayer meeting and looked forward to her monthly GG’s ladies group meetings. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Professional Secretarial Association serving as past President. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, enjoyed reading books, crossword puzzles, Facebook and southern gospel music.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years Oscar E. Brooks; four children, Ed Brooks ( Dolly) of Thomasville, GA., Darlene Christmas (Joe) of Columbus, GA., Tammy Moore (Philip) of Columbus, GA., and Penny Green (Steve) of Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren James, Joe, Donna, Beth, Kristy, David, Tommy, Melanie, Gene, Travis, Sierra and Kaleb; sixteen great grandchildren; special cousins Daphene and Sonya; her beloved 4-legged hero, Buddy; a host of special friends and relatives. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Francis and Dr. R. Chokkar.
