Mrs. Wilkerson was born in Hissop, Alabama, on December 31st, 1934, to the late Judge Dewey and Rosa Lee Carter. She was employed for 30 loyal years at Beltone Hearing. She enjoyed her work there and never met a stranger. Mrs. Wilkerson attended Edgewood Baptist Church for 45 years and was an active member in her Sunday school class.
During her retirement years, she proudly devoted her time to her favorite people, her grandchildren. She gave them an insight to a world long ago and showed them endless love and fun! Mrs. Wilkerson enjoyed cooking, gardening, making crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Judge Dewey Carter and Rosa Lee Forbus Carter; her husband, Lovette Pruitt Wilkerson; her son, Ronald Lovette Wilkerson; and her sisters, Annie Laura Glasscock and Mary Charlotte Thompson.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Wilkerson deBrabant (William); granddaughter, Katelyn deBrabant Reiney (Jacob); grandson, Kyle deBrabant (Madelyn Patel); nieces and nephews, Gloria Polis, Anita O’Neal, Grady Glasscock, and Linda Sue Shaw.
A Celebration of Sue's life will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Reverend Allison Owen officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
