Charlene was born in Columbus, MS to, Alfred D. Wright and Otera Logan Wright. She made Georgia her home at the age of 16. She was a graduate of Baker High School and Berry Business College. As a young adult living in Warner Robbins she loved working with special needs children, and later she managed the youth activities center at Ft. Benning. Charlene was the owner and operator of Victoria’s Corner, an Antique shop in Oxford, AL for several years.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred D. Wright and Otera Logan Wright, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard D. Wright (Margie) and Michael W. Wright (Judy).
She leaves her love and special memories to her devoted husband of 41 years, Robert E. Slocum; her adored son, William E. King, III (Louise); a brother, Alfred L. Wright (Carol); a sister, Betsy G. Morway (Pat); granddaughter, Sage Hale and her loving nieces and nephews.
Charlene’s passions in life were her son Bill, her loving husband Bob, her family, antiques, furry animals, a good bargain and first and foremost our Lord and Savior.
In memory of Charlene, a visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
