Bessie Downey Morgan

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Britt David Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Jones officiating according to Striffler – Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Morgan was born in Salitpa, AL. on March 29, 1924 daughter of the late Burrel Clanton Downey and Annie Elizabeth Jones Downey. She has lived in Columbus for most of her life and retired as a Pay Master with Fieldcrest–Cannon Mill. She was a member of Britt David Baptist Church. Her family and friends were an important part of her life. Mrs. Morgan enjoyed needle work of all kinds, continuing to crochet after losing her sight. Being an avid reader, audio books became very important to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Nealon Morgan.

Survivors include her three children, Elizabeth Anne Kimbro (David), Barry Nealon Morgan (Rebecca) and James Shelton Morgan, Grandchildren, David Joel Kimbro (Karen), Vicki Elizabeth Kimbro Moore (Ronald) Patrisha Anne Rahenkamp (Michael) Jason Bradley Morgan (Samantha) and Amy Nicole Robinson (Rob) and great grandchildren, Johnathan David Kimbro, James Douglas Kimbro, Jason Morgan Kimbro, Carrie Anne Kimbro, Jessica Ann White (Zack), Kathryn Elizabeth Martin, Jason Bradley Morgan, Jr., Nealon Lane Morgan, Olivia Nicole Morgan, William Henry Robinson and Wesley Morgan Robinson.
