Phenix City, Alabama- Anna McBride Buckner, age 93, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, died on April 26, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at Holy Family Catholic Church Tuesday, April 29, 2014, 3:00 p.m., with Father O'Connell officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will have a Rosary Monday, April 28, 2104, 5:00 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Columbus, with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Buckner, daughter of the late Joseph Emanuel Fitzgerald and Anna Frances Miller, was born July 19, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She moved to Columbus at one year old where she resided for more than 50 years. Mrs. Buckner retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Atlanta. She was active and involved in many organizations such as; member of TOPS in Jonesboro and Columbus where she served as an officer in many capacities and member of the Gallop Center. Mrs. Buckner attended St. Phillip Benizi Church during her years living in Jonesboro as well as Holy Family Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otis Woodrow McBride; husband, Dallas Buckner; and daughter, Elizabeth Anna Stewart. Mrs. Buckner is survived by her daughter, Trece Chancellor (Jack); sons, Mike McBride (Vickie), Marvin McBride (Susan); grandchildren, Lane Fabiani (Kathy), Ben Chancellor, Chance Chancellor, Teal Grantham (Craig), Lance Myers, Jo Anna Funderburk (Eric), Mikie McBride, Bryan McBride (Emili); and many great and great-great grandchildren.
