Tucker Joseph Shelton of 218 Wrenfield Lane, Blythewood, South Carolina was called home to be with the Lord on August 1, 2020. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina on December 20, 2000 to Karla Austin Shelton and Steve Shelton.
In addition to his parents, Tucker is survived by a sister, Kathryn Shelton of Charlotte, North Carolina; a brother, Lee Shelton of Asheville, North Carolina; a grandmother, Elizabeth Shelton of Albemarle, North Carolina; an uncle, Phillip Austin of Oakboro, North Carolina; an uncle, Stan Shelton (Amy) of Albemarle, North Carolina; and cousins, Sophia Austin, Nicholas Austin, Camille Shelton, Grayson Shelton and Reese Shelton. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Linda and Larry Austin and his paternal grandfather, Oscar Shelton.
Growing up, Tucker was always participating in a sport. He played team sports including football, baseball, basketball, and lacrosse. He also loved fishing, hunting, snow skiing, wake boarding and jet skiing. Through these vast activities, Tucker made fabulous friends because he never met a stranger! With his impeccable manners and jubilant personality, Tucker had the uncanny ability to make everyone who met him, young and old, love and respect him. When you saw Tucker, there was always a big smile on his face and he would greet you with a handshake or a hug—even if you had seen him 10 minutes earlier.
Tucker graduated Blythewood High School in 2019. As an avid lifelong Gamecocks fan and tailgating enthusiast, he was beginning his first year as a transfer student at the University of South Carolina. Tucker’s plan was to finish college and begin a career in sales.
Services will be held 3:00 pm, Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at The Village Church in Blythewood, South Carolina with a reception immediately following in the church social hall. Honorary pallbearers will be some of Tucker’s friends, JoJo Purvis, James Branham, Paul Summerford, Nick Henderson, Albert Pointer, Coulson Hance, Carter Cathcart, Ben Stokes, Brady Carson, Garrett Morrow, Todd Haynie, Jim Beard and Luke Beard. A private burial will be scheduled in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Courage Center and/or Midlands Recovery Center.
