Samuel Gregg O'Neal Jr.

After serving in the US Navy, Gregg spent 36 years of his work life as a tech at the Columbia Eye Clinic, where he fitted many Columbians with contact lenses and took the machine measurements for people getting cataract surgery.

He leaves behind a devoted wife of 36 years, Sandra Robertson O’Neal; a daughter, Heather O’Neal Adams; a stepson, Alex Nelson; a stepdaughter, Ginger Goff; four grandchildren Teagan Shelton, Ty Shelton, Eleanor Goff, and Alexandra Goff; a brother, Larry O’Neal; a sister, Peggy Lee; and many other family members. They will miss his quirky humor, his delight in Hallowe’en, his love of Riverbanks Zoo, and his complaints about burning daylight.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.

Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, and Shandon Presbyterian Church are assisting the family.
