A memorial service for Robert Lemont “Bobby” Carpenter, 71, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2024 at St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, with burial in the church memorial garden. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall.
Mr. Carpenter died Sunday, July 7, 2024. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Richard Oscar Carpenter and Mary Lemont Carpenter. A graduate of A.C. Flora High School, he attended Wofford College, where he received his degree in Chemistry. Robert worked for the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Data Resources, and GEL Laboratories, LLC in Charleston. He was a member of St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church.
Bobby’s greatest joy was music. He often said, “Playing the piano is my medicine”. His musical talent was the gift he shared with family, friends, and strangers. His love of music was passed on to his children and grandchildren, all of whom have his love and joy for music. Through his long Alzheimer’s journey, his signature smile and positive attitude never faltered.
Soar high our “Rocket Man”. We will be forever grateful that through your tremendous ability to love unconditionally, we are eternally blessed.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Manley Carpenter; daughters, Christin Lee Brelan Carpenter and Lauren Puffenbarger (Chris); grandchildren, Ethan Savalli, Jamison Welch, and Hannah Frances Welch; sister-in-law, Ann Carpenter; and many loved family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Richard “Dickie” Carpenter.
