COLUMBIA - Michael Lydon, 92, died Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Rice Estates in Columbia.
Mr. Lydon was born July 26, 1929 in Galway, Ireland to Martin and Julie Coyne Lydon. In 1950, at 21 years old he immigrated to the United States. In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army serving his country until 1956. During this time, Mr. Lydon served in Germany for two years and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After serving in the Army, Mr. Lydon relocated to South Carolina where he resided for 53 years. He retired from Red Distributing in 1989 and from PPG Industries in 2013. Mr. Lydon was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Church. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Alice Hopkins Lydon and a son Kevin Lydon of Smyrna, GA.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in Elmwood Cemetery.
