Michael & I were very close. We shared many ups & downs together over the years. I'm still in total shock of his passing!! He was such a giving person and would do anything to help you out. I know Michael loved his family very much and I know it's hard on them but please know Michael is in a better place!!

May you take comfort in the loving memories and the friends and family that surround you during this time of sorrow.  May the pain you feel now be nothing compared to the joy found within the wonderful memories of Michael!   I can't even find words to express my deep sorrow in the tragic loss of someone so dear to me.  I met Michael on Ocean Drive many years ago and we forged a friendship that would span many years.  Ocean Drive will never be the same without his smiling face.  He brought so much joy into my life as well as so many others.  Michael carried a camera all the time always snapping photos of great memories.  That is actually how we met so many years ago.  He lovingly asked if he could take a picture (selfie) (attached) with me.   And that was also the first time I experienced my first hug from this  teddy bear of a gentleman.  Now thousands and thousands of MJ photos later I am heartbroken that he is no longer with us.  I cannot even begin to tell you how much I will miss his kindness, warmth and generosity of spirit and yes, his warm and affectionate hugs. There are no words that can express the loss that so many of us are feeling.    Michael was the smile behind the smiles he brought to so many.  I saw him last on the afternoon of September 24 at Fat Harolds and never dreamed that that would be the last conversation that we would ever have.   And then there was the always affectionate hug and of course the exchange of the words I love you my friend.  How often do we go through life without saying the things that are most important to those we care about?   That is a day in my life that I will never forget, my last exchange of hugs, and the beautiful words spoken between one of the greatest and truest friends that I have ever known.   Michael was an extraordinary, loving, gentle and giving man.  Please accept my sincere condolences and  prayers during this difficult time and take comfort in the fact that Michael was genuinely loved by so many!  

Michael was such a constant fixture at the shag clubs, taking pictures and chatting with folks. He will be missed. Prayers for his family.

One of the hardest things to deal with in our lives is the sudden passing of a very dear friend or a loved one in your family, Michael Jumper was both of these wonderful individuals to "our" family.  He was just a big Teddy Bear, a lovable, kind, generous, giving, sweet, and devoted young man, he loved everyone, especially his sweet mother and his son and two daughters.  I first met Michael at Duck's, you always knew when Michael walked into the room with his camera snapping away pictures of everyone, getting people to gather together and joking with them and then "CLICK CLICK CLICK" taking fun-loving pictures of many of our wonderful customers/family.  Everybody knew Michael and he loved people, loved taking their pictures, telling them about the OD MAFIA AND HIS CAMERA WAS HIS GUN!!  He never met a stranger because within minutes they became his friend and he knew everyone by their first name.  He would always come up to me, hug and kiss me on the cheek and say, "I love you, David, you're my man, how're are my girls doing"??  Michael had my back, anytime there was something brewing, which was very very rare at Duck's, I could always feel Michael's presence right behind me, he was ready and the few times I did need his help, he stepped right in and 99% of the time, he was cool, collected, calm, and could talk them into backing off and going back into having fun....the one's who ignored his warnings....went out the door immediately, he was like a bull and they realized it when he grabbed hold of them.  Yes, I will sorely miss my big ole buddy, my dearest friend, my brother.  Michael, my daughters and I will always remember you and love you with all our hearts, you were the BEST OF THE BEST, and until we meet again, send us some pictures, we all have a lot of loved ones up there in that Heavenly Shag Club, and to your friends and loved ones, we send our sincerest prayers that our dear Lord will bless each of you and bring peace of mind and love into your hearts.  

You will be missed so much!! You always captured special moments at Camp Kemo Fundraisers. Say hello to all of the crew from Fat Harold's that I know were there to welcome you. We will always remember your great smile and kind heart. Prayers for the family for peace and comfort. 

Such a huge loss to everyone who knew and loved him.  I was so extremely shocked at his death having been photographed by him the night before.  My prayers go out to you, his family, and he will always be in my memories as one great guy.  Our loss but heavens gain.  Rest in peace my friend!

I worked with Michael and am so shocked. He was always there to help me through the years, and he is truly going to be missed by all of us at Rotech. Thanks for all you did my brother.


I was so sorry to hear about Michael. Thoughts and prayers to his family. 

So sorry to hear this. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Michael, but what a sweet heart ❤️!  Much love to all the Jumper clan, and especially to Cookie. 

I met Michael shortly after moving here from Pa during a tribute concert at Ducks, he came over and said, “Can I please take your picture, you’re absolutely beautiful?” At first I thought umm ok, you must have your beer goggles on but then I found out he was the local photographer and so I said sure, why not, flattery gets you everywhere lol. And from that point on, every time he come into Ducks and saw me, he would take my picture and we would cut up, although I didn’t know him as well as others did,  in the short time I did get to know him I found him to be an amazing photographer, a great father,  an awesome friend and an extraordinary human being who loved to laugh and have a good time and  always made sure you had a smile on your face! He was taken way too soon and will be greatly missed.

I am in shock because Michael gave me a hug and took my picture and showed it to me and said, “That’s a good one!” on Friday and I saw him again on Saturday! What a great guy! We both loved USC and shagging. In fact, I have been teaching shag classes at USC for 19 years! We will all miss you terribly, Michael. And love you so much. Heaven got a sweet man. Kae

Michael was a special friend who always made me smile and gave me one of his huge hugs whenever he saw me.

He will truly be missed by all that knew him. 

Michael was a dear friend and will truely be missed. He was a friend to all and the smile on his face was so alive. God bless all of you and take time for yourself.

Gosh, what a wonderful individual & friend. He was part of NMB, loved seeing him & taking pictures. So gracious, I would on many occasions ask for his camera so I could take a picture of him. 
To his family & friends, I’m so very sorry for your loss, praying God will comfort you during this time of lost. 

Mike and I were photography buddies.   He had a kind soul  I have had a lot of heart surgery’s in the last 5 years and he always called to chec on me.      Love you my brother 

Mike was just a flat out great guy. I had the pleasure of working with him for over 15 years. You will not meet a nicer guy but yet you always new where you stood with him. I think that is why we got a long so well. I happened to talk to him last week and told him how great of a job he was doing.  He thanked me and laughed and said you got me two more years boss and I am gone. We both laughed and I told him he deserved that. 

He will be missed for sure by his Rotech family.

Such a wonderful soul who will truly be missed. I never met him in person but spoke to him at least once a week on the phone for the past 8 years and it was like I had known him my entire life.  Rest in peace my friend.

Michael, always generated fun and laughter whenever anyone was around him. He will be remembered by me as a great friend, and was always like a brother to me. He loved his family, especially his mother and he loved his children dearly. I will always have fond memories of him  taking pictures of people wherever he went and doing whatever he could do to make people feel happy and good inside.

We were shocked to hear about Mike’s passing & our sympathy goes to his family.  Mike was such a wonderful neighbor many years ago on Cardington Dr.  He did have a way to make you laugh when he was around.  May God comfort the family during this time of loss.

Michael was such a joy to be around and he always knew how to capture your smile!  He will be greatly missed!
