Mary Scalf

Mrs. Mary Magdeline Scalf, 68, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Dewey F. and Ezlean Strickland Martin. Mary was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, past Worthy Matron of the Cayce Chapter #260, and attended Midway Independent Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Scalf, Sr.; daughter, Carol (David) Cranfield of Goose Creek, SC; son, Carl (Tammy) Scalf, Jr. of Lake Lure, NC; daughter, Wanda (Joe) Triguero of Elgin; grandchildren, Michael Scalf, Matthew (Maria) Scalf, Ryan Scalf, David Cranfield, Jr., Nicholas and Haley Cranfield, Kelsey, Joseph and Justin Triguero; special nieces, Marie Martin and Shannon Sample Bostic; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

The funeral service for Mrs. Scalf will be held 1 o’clock, Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Midway Independent Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Donald Stone and Brother Dave Brown will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o’clock, Friday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive.
