Columbia, SC - Linda Connelly Riddle, beloved wife of G. Fred Riddle, passed away at home on August 14, 2021. Born in Rock Hill, SC in 1947, she was preceded in death by parents, Doris R. Connelly and L.L. “Bing" Connelly and father-in-law, Grover M. Riddle.
In addition to her caring and devoted husband, survivors are daughters, Allison Timmons (Matt) and Jennifer Dailey (Dwayne); stepson, Christopher Riddle (Melinda); and grandchildren, Matthew, Ben, Madeline, Parker, Leighton, Isabella, Reid, Gracin, Olivia, and Jack. She is also survived by mother-in-law, Irene Riddle; brother, Buddy Connelly (Nancy); and lifelong friends, Mary and Billy Boyd.
Linda grew up in Beaufort, SC and was a graduate of Beaufort High School. A beauty from the beginning, she was crowned Miss Beaufort and held a special place in her heart for all things lowcountry, especially the annual Beaufort Water Festival. Graduating from The University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in French sparked Linda's love for music and travel. After meeting the love of her life, she and Fred resided in Columbia where together they raised their family. Prior to retirement, she dedicated 24 years of service to the Forest Acres Police Department as a clerk of court. She loved spending time with her husband and cruising the seas. Shag dancing, scuba diving and exploring together, they delighted in over 30 cruises all over the world.
Linda's contributions and actions in the lives of many will be sorely missed and remembered by those who knew and loved her, notably her two sons-in-law. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend who gave to those she knew well and those she did not. She contributed to many charitable organizations and memorials may be made in her memory to any philanthropic organization of choice.
Family will receive visitors at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, 3926 Devine Street, on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Park at 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.
