Joyce Lynn Bates

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Joyce Lynn Bates, 72, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with a burial in Florence National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The family will greet friends briefly prior to the service and following the service at the funeral home.

Miss Bates died Monday, June 6, 2022. Born in Tampa, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Raymond H. Bates and Mary Elinor Hoffman Bates. Joyce loved soap opera books, paper dolls, Beatles music, movies, and Barbie dolls. Her biggest highlight was when she went with a friend to see Paul McCartney and Wings at Williams Brice Stadium. She was a resident of Babcock Center.

Surviving are her sisters, Carol Bates and Dale McCaskill; brother, David Alan Bates (Vicki); brother-in-law, James Greenwood, Jr.; and three nephews, Trey Greenwood (Talia), Tony Greenwood, and Sean McCaskill.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Cheryl Greenwood and brother-in-law, John McCaskill.
