Jimmy was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a skilled sewist and an avid golfer. Throughout 50 years of playing golf, she made many treasured lifelong friends from Paris Mountain Country Club, Pebble Creek Country Club, Oconee Country Club, and most recently Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota, FL where she and her late husband Harold spent their retirement. On her 86th birthday, she commented that golf was the thing she missed most of all her hobbies and she was proud to have made a Hole-in-One.
After beginning work as an x-ray technician, Jimmy pursued a career as an insurance underwriter. Later she taught sewing and drapery-making at Tri County Technical College in Seneca, SC. She was always ready to learn something new and pass along the results to those she loved.
Jimmy is survived by her three children, Rayna Pittman Keilman of Asheville, NC, Jan Pittman Hunter (Clyde) of Birmingham, AL, and David Bryson Pittman (Kathy) of Columbia, SC. She also leaves behind the three children of her late husband, Dennis A. Hayes(Sharon) of Lake City, FL, Steven C. Hayes (Gloria) of Belton, SC, and Cheri H. Kessler(Ray) of Simpsonville, SC. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold L. Hayes, and her parents, James David and Louise Scott McDowell.
Memorial and interment services will be held graveside January 13th at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC.
