COLUMBIA - Ivan Wycliffe Haynes passed away January 10, 2018 just short of his 47th birthday. He was the son of Marie Hunt Haynes and Wycliffe Eskrigge (Wyc) Haynes. He graduated from Heathwood Hall Episcopal School and served in the U.S. Army, receiving an honorable discharge. Ivan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina and was employed by the University of South Carolina Mathematics Department in Columbia. SC. He is survived by his loving parents and uncle, Robert Blackstone Haynes of Highlands, North Carolina; a beloved aunt, Dr. Jettie V. Hunt of Boyertown, Pennsylvania, and several uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandparents, C.W. Haynes and Dr. Edith Eskrigge Haynes, James Wesley Hunt, Sr. and Marie Edwards Hunt all of Columbia. Well-known by name in the Southeast as a multi-champion “A” rider in Enduro Motorcycle racing, he cherished the outdoors and camaraderie of his competitors. Friends consider him loyal and altruistic by nature. He leaves a legacy of outreach, lending respectful dignity to each soul he met along his path. Remembrance may be made to any animal or human shelter, the Riverbanks Zoo or charity of ones choice. A private memorial service will be at a later date.
