Irene Poole

COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Irene Poole, 95, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3909 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29204, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Poole died Friday, October 15, 2021. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late W.W. and Fannie Mills Swygert. She retired from the SC Department of Commerce. Mrs. Poole was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Leon R. Poole, daughter Dianne Poole Maddox, brother Harry L. Swygert, and sisters Rudy Hildago, Nellie Wittig and Gladys Tyler.

Surviving are her daughter, Yvonne Poole Martin (Dennis) of Columbia, SC; son-in-law, Raylie Maddox of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Troy Hammett (Jill), Tara Kyzer (Steve), Cheryl Paul (Clint), and Sheila Ruehl (Mark); and great-granchildren, Mackenzie and Abby Grace Hammett, Taylor and Bradi Ruehl, Sage Kyzer, and Pierson, Hudson, and Colton Paul.
