Christopher Ward Mercer

COLUMBIA - A Celebration of Life service for Christopher Ward Mercer, 58, will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Shandon Baptist Church. A reception will be held following the service at the church.

Mr. Mercer passed away Friday, February 18, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of Carol Nolan Mercer and the late Edward Everett Mercer. He was a 1981 graduate of Brookland Cayce High School. Christopher graduated from the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the swim team and served as captain in 1985. He worked for CSC for 29 years and TCube Solutions until November 2015. He was a member of Shandon Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sharon Elizabeth Wiegand Mercer; sons, Ryan Nelson Mercer (Rebecca) of Columbia, SC and Daniel Reid Mercer (Mary Scott) of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Hampton and Tatum Grace Mercer; two brothers, Richard Mercer of Orlando, FL, and Everett Joseph Mercer (Carolyn) of Columbia, SC; three sisters, Ellen Adams and Judy Fleshman (Ed), both of Columbia, SC, and Mary Bell (Moe) of Rock Hill, SC; and three brothers-in-law, Scott Wiegand (Megan), Ron Wiegand (Solita) and Larry Ivie (Celeste).
