Caroline Jean Gordon

Columbia - Caroline J. Gordon went home to be with the Lord. Funeral services will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at 12:00 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Due to the increase in Covid, there will be no visitation. All attending will be asked to wear a mask.

Caroline was born in Tony, Wisconsin to Frank and Florence Kudingo.

Caroline was loved by all. She had a vivacious fun-loving personality. Her friends describe her as always cheerful and brightened the room she was in. Her grandchildren described her as the fun grandma that loved creating memories.

Caroline and her husband owned a service station in Illinois before moving to South Carolina. She worked for her daughter’s salon as the receptionist for 10 years. She was very involved in her churches here in Columbia. She was active in the woman’s activities at Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Camden. She held the title of president of the Senior community for several years at St. Peters. More recently she had been on the resident council at Terra Bella retirement community in Northeast Columbia.

In her younger days, Caroline loved sewing, baking, playing games and cards with her friends and grandchildren.

Everyone knew her as the lady in the red power wheelchair. Her grandchildren called her grandma beep beep because her wheelchair had a horn they loved.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Melvin Gordon of 64 years of marriage. Her siblings, Ken Kudingo, Raymond Kudingo, Mike Kudingo, Joyce Bain. Granddaughter, Jennifer Gordon.

Survived by her children, Daniel Gordon and wife Janiece, Edward Gordon and wife Susan, Melanie Benik, and husband Mike, and Wallace Gordon and wife Rhea. Grandchildren, Brandy, Tabatha, Brad, Melissa, Julie, Katie, Charise, Venus, and Vincenzo. Great Grandchildren, Jessica, Peyton, Dominic, Michael, Josiah, Danielle, Katlyn, Carson. Great great grandchild, Faiden. And brother, Robert Kudingo and his wife Marilyn.
