Lawanda “Lou” Boudreaux, age 55, passed away on October 2, 2023, in her hometown of Columbia, MS. Her battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges with grace, dignity, and a healthy dose of stubbornness. Despite her recent struggles, Lou always had a bright smile for everyone.
Lou was born on February 11, 1968 in Columbia, MS to John “Buster” Powell and Emily Louise Powell. She was a native to Columbia and attended Columbia High School. Lou worked as a manager in the food industry around the county and especially enjoyed talking and meeting new people at her work. She loved her last job at East Marion Cafeteria, calling all the children her babies. Lou married the love of her life, Dewayne Boudreaux and they had two wonderful boys, John and Jacob.
To know her was to love her. Lou never met a stranger. She had a marvelous personality and was loved by many. She loved all her family deeply. She was the most supportive friend and family member. Lou was always there cheering the loudest in the front row for you. She loved arts and crafts and was very artistic. She loved music and passed that love down to her sons, nieces, and great nephew. She enjoyed a good party and loved decorating. She always went all out for everything! She will be deeply missed and there will be no one on Earth like her again.
Lou was preceded in death by her father, John Douglas “Buster” Powell; and sisters, Betty Stewart, and Carolyn Graham.
