Lachel Marie Dement

Lachel Marie Dement, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed away from her earthly home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the age of 55. She was born in Columbia to Jerry and Cheryl Pittman and has remained a lifelong resident of Marion County. Lachel was one of a kind with her big heart and loving spirit. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for the many wonderful meals that she prepared for her family and friends. Lachel was a loving wife, mother, YanYan and aunt to all who knew her. Her grandchildren were her delight and she always kept yellow bags stuffed with toys and candy for each of them.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cheryl Pittman; and a brother, Arnold Pittman. Lachel is survived by her husband of 36 years, Kerry Dement; two sons, Jeron (Miranda) Dement and Blake (Leah) Dement; her father, Jerry Pittman; a brother, Kendall (Karesa) Pittman; five grandchildren, Bryleigh Dement, Brelyn Dement, Kaston Dement, Emma Pittman, and Kyle Ginn; and numerous nieces and nephews, including one special nephew, whom she loved as her own, Chanley Pittman.

There will be a visitation for Lachel at Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 6:00pm until 10:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Jerry Terrell, will be in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Lott Cemetery assisted by Chanley Pittman, James Goar, John Goar, Jason Rockco, Neil Stringer, and Bryan Terrell serving as pallbearers. Kaston Dement, Jathan Rockco, Kyle Ginn, and Lane Pittman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
