Josephine Sanders, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the age of 73. She was born in York, Alabama and has been a resident of Marion County since 1957. Josephine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She had a way of making everyone that she was around feel loved and will be remembered for her spunky, witty personality that always made others laugh. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Dale Sanders; her mother, Irene Broom; her father, Joe Rainer; and a brother, Charlie Rainer. Josephine is survived by a daughter, Angela (David) Singley; a son, David Sanders; a sister, Shirley Prestidge; a brother, Jeff (Patricia) Broom; five grandchildren, Courtney (Jamie) Montgomery, Cameron (Courtney) Singley, Brett (Megan) Sanders, Derek Sanders, and Alexis Seals; and eleven great-grandchildren. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Brent Robbins, will be at 9:30am on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home where friends may visit from 9:00am until service time. Burial will follow in Foxworth Cemetery, assisted by Cameron Singley, Kevin Broom, Jamie Montgomery, Brett Sanders, Derek Sanders, and Logan Singley serving as pallbearers.
