Jimmy Wayne McCraw Sr.

Jimmy Wayne McCraw, Sr., of Columbia, Mississippi, gained his wings on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born in Columbia to James and Lois Faye McCraw and has remained a lifelong resident of Marion County. Jimmy Wayne graduated from Hub High School and worked hard as a self-employed painter. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid hunter, and especially enjoyed bow hunting. He also enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and softball. Jimmy Wayne will be remembered for the deep love that he had for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Nell Polk and Betty Sue Wooten; a son, Jeremy Michael McCraw; a step-son, Greg Pittman; and his wife, Mary Ann McCraw. Jimmy Wayne is survived by a son, Jimmy Wayne McCraw, Jr.; a step-daughter, Mica Broom; three sisters, Faye Jean Dillard, Peggy Ann Clinton (Wayne), and Pamela “Tammy” Barnes (Larry); seven grandchildren, Holly Mitchell, Mikey McCraw (Belle), Tanner Broom, Savanah Broom, Jordan Sinclair (Jacob), Heidi Holloway, Christopher Stephens; ten great-grandchildren, Allison Finley, Carson Finley, Bella Martinez, Zander Martinez, Oscar Martinez, Lincoln Creel, Marlee Mitchell, Archer McCraw, Cooper Sinclair, and Lucy Broom; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Brian Stewart, will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00am. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30am until service time. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
