Darlene Shirley of Foxworth, MS passed away at the age of 65 on Sunday, November 13, 2022. She worked 25 years in retail sales for various companies including Dillard’s Department Store and was a member of Foxworth First Baptist Church. Darlene loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Shirley; a son, Rusty Shirley; parents, Robert “Bob” Johnson and Mary Moody Johnson; and a grandson, Brannon Shirley. Her memory will be forever cherished by her son, Ryan Shirley (Jodie) of Columbia, MS; three sisters, Dot Temples, and Mary Beasley, both of Columbia, and Betty Cox of Laurel, MS; three grandchildren, Baylee Magee (Tyler), Cody Shirley, and Hayden Shirley, all of Columbia; and four great-grandchildren, Ella Burns, Jase Magee, Emilee Magee, and Allie Magee.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11:00 am at the funeral home chapel. Reverend Tyler Chavis and Reverend Gary Roberson will officiate services and burial will follow at Foxworth Cemetery assisted by Doug Duncan, David Brown, Jamie Prine, Michael Prine, Joe Dyess, and Joseph Dyess as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Darlene’s caregivers, Talsie and Kathy Dearman, for always being there and giving the care and attention Darlene needed.
