Betty Cloy Fortenberry, of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born in Grace, Mississippi to Joseph and Leona Cloy, was a graduate of McComb High School, and attended Hinds Community College. Betty moved with her husband to Sandy Hook in 1997 after his retirement and has been a member of Sandy Hook Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and a devoted helper to her husband. Betty will be remembered for the love and devotion to her family, her church, and her community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bob Fortenberry; a son, Richard Fortenberry; three sisters, Elizabeth “Pete” Stokes, Evelyn Faulk, and Hilda Kirkland; and a brother, Billy Cloy. Betty is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Hance and her husband, Doug; a son, Robert Fortenberry and his wife, Margaret; five grandchildren, Bethany Cole and her husband, Daniel, Charissa Kyman and her husband, Max, Elizabeth Hance, Caroline Hance, and Daniel Hance and his wife, Doyeon; and three great-grandchildren, August Cole, Deacon Cole, and Jack Kyman.
There will be a funeral service for Betty at Sandy Hook Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 2:00pm and friends may visit with the family from 1:00pm until service time. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be made in Betty’s honor to Sandy Hook Baptist Church.
