Shirley Ann Reeder, of Republic, MO, passed away on April 23, 2023, she was 86 years old. She was born on December 23, 1936, to Earl and Vera (Nichols) Davis in the March/Elkland area of Missouri.
Shirley took pride in everything she did. She was very active in her church and in the communities that she lived in. Shirley worked full-time, in retail and as a bookkeeper, for most of her life. She enjoyed staying active with her family and friends. She belonged to and volunteered in several organizations. Shirley was an active member and served as president in both the American Businesswoman’s Association and the Sunrise Opti-Mrs. of the Optimists Organization. She was an active member of the Elks 594 Ladies Auxillary and the Hartsburg American Legion.
Shirley grew up on her parents’ farm along with her older sister Pauline and brother Joe. In their small farm community, she attended the one room schoolhouse that was close to her family church and next door to the family farm. She graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Missouri.
She married her high school sweetheart, Bill McCallister and they were blessed with one daughter, Ann. Shirley and Bill were married for 20 years. After they parted ways, Shirley moved to Columbia, Missouri where her sister Pauline lived. After establishing herself in the community of Columbia with a job and friendships, she met and married Marvin Reeder. This brought a wealth of new friendships and family to her life. She had two grandchildren, Tracy and Marc. Within a few years after Marvin and Shirley were married, Marvin’s children, David and Debbie added more grandchildren, Shaun, Kelli, Brian, Gregory, Margon and Justin. Together, Marvin and Shirley enjoyed a great friendship and love, and they had lots of happy times with their family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, brother Joe Davis, sister Pauline Ramsey as well as a niece Joetta Cornett.
She is survived by her daughter Ann Powell and her husband Larry and their children, Tracy Lucchese and husband Scott and Marc Powell as well as other extended family and countless friends.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 1-2 p.m. at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic, MO, with funeral services to follow at 2pm. After the funeral, Shirley will be taken to Columbia, MO where she will have a visitation at 10am at Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11am Monday, May 01, 2023. She will be laid to rest beside Marvin in Memorial Park Cemetery.
